condition: excellent

For your consideration, a first-edition vintage copy of The Queen and Mr. Gladstone (Doubleday Doran, 1934, 793 pages). The book is in very good overall condition with some modest cover wear. The interior pages have tanned a bit, but are clean and intact throughout. Take a look at the photos to get a better sense of overall condition.

The book chronicles 1500 letters and telegrams exchanged between England's Queen Victoria and her private secretaries and then Prime Minister W. E. Gladstone from approximately 1845 to 1897. While it may seem like dry reading, the book provides a unique insight into the English state of affairs in the 19th century. The book also contains 11 photos of prominent historical political figures of that era, including of course pictures of Queen Victoria and Gladstone. A fascinating bit of world history and a great book to add to your collection.
