For sale is an all original, in close to mint condition, YP-D8 turntable. This is the precursor to the famous GT-2000 table. I purchased this off eBay a couple of years ago and used it for about a year, very sparingly as I didn't have many albums at the time. This table performed great and sounded heavenly with just one issue..the auto-stop would work sometimes and not work sometimes. I recently opened it up to look into the issue but couldn't find anything wrong with it. I haven't messed with anything underneath so far as everything looks in very clean and pristine shape. So far, the auto stop feature is working, but not sure if it will continue to work. There's info online and in the service manual about adjusting that. Not long after I starting using it, the tonearm started to drop pretty quick after flipping the cueing lever to the down position to play a record. Had to look that up online for the fix for that. Didn't take too long to remove the oil reservoir, disassemble everything, replace what little oil was left with 500,000 CST silicone oil and put it all back together..it works really good now. Now, to the table itself..it looks beautiful. The wood is in fantastic condition with just a few tiny little spots here and there. The arm has a scratch near the arm cradle..it was like that when I got it. Other than that, it's basically spotless. The VTA knob operates to adjust the vertical height of the tonearm "on the fly" or while playing. I'm thinking the VTA adjustment will need some attention in the future to continue operating smoothly. The grease put in at the factory just lasts so long and it's been 40 years ago now. The dust cover is original and in excellent condition. No cracks. Maybe a couple of tiny little rub areas here and there but, for the age, a 9 out of 10 easy. It's been polished with the Novus 3 step cleaner and it really came out looking great. It wasn't really bad to start with so the Novus cleaners and polish really shined it up and made it almost new. It got wrapped in plastic when I finished it. It doesn't come with a cartridge but it does have the original head shell with silver wires to connect the cartridge of your choice to the tone arm and this table deserves a good cartridge. Cartridge mounting screws are also included..you may need longer or shorter ones depending on your cartridge set up. All in all, this is a high end table from Yamaha and somewhat rare..not many of these come up for sale often. Possibly a little wiggle room on the price but not much as these are pricy and going up in value when you can find one in this condition. Google this model and you'll get an idea of the rarity and price. Cash only on pickup..no cash app, Venmo or anything else. Also, I really, really do not want to ship this. Shipping turntables is a crap shoot at best. This would be fairly expensive due to the weight involved. It's currently sitting in a metal box with 1" thick foam on all sides inside the box..this would be the safest thing to ship it in and if you absolutely needed shipping, this set up is what I would use. So you're looking at around 50-60 LBS. to ship.
