1880‘s Oak Roll Top Desk Hutchinson Kansas & The Success Animal Yoke Co. Fairview Oka
History
This desk is from Hutchinson Kansas, The Previous owner was Bart Onwiler of Hutchinson Kansas. He purchased the desk out of the Success Animal Yoke Company in Fairview Oka in the 1930’s. he was told the desk was in the Burch Family prior to that. He also had a photograph of the desk was in the background of a picture of the first Edison, the family told me ” the photo was taken by another family member on the other side that we do not talk to”, but might be found in a history book or perhaps on the internet.
Onwiler name is one of the oldest names in the three states (Illinois, Missouri, and Kansas)
Mr. Onwiler was also recognized at the 600 Year anniversary of the city of Onwiler Germany.
I have been told this desk is 1865 era, but you should do your own research.
The Family even had a items that came over on the mayflower, but wouldn’t sell (family items) but I guess when people get and receive some items aren’t as important (sentimental as others) the man told me his son didn’t care for the desk thus the whole generation topic. But the desk lives on. lol
