This is a rare piece -
This is a "specialty" potter's wheel that was used to make fine details in pottery.
The wheel required two people - One would "throw" (shape, sculpt) the clay.
The other person uses a special rope, or a "band" that would be wrapped around the base and then attached to a foot pedal. The potter would communicate with the (usually a) man who would work the peddle.
These "peddlers" were easily recognized in the towns and villages, as they had one calf much larger than the other!
