The original plant lived in Kentucky, and over the decades it was passed from person to person as cuttings and whole plants, spreading through surrounding states and eventually making its way to Huntsville, Alabama. My father and I have been propagating this line for years, keeping the tradition alive.
This particular strain is an extreme bloomer. Mature plants reliably put out 20–40 blossoms per season, sometimes more in strong years.
