Leidos’ Defense Uncrewed Systems Integrion and Test is seeking a motived and ambitious Junior Software Engineer to join the Software, Simulion, Systems Engineering and Integrion Directore (S3I) Joint Technology Center – Systems Integrion Lab (JSIL) Technology and Certificion Center. This position collabores with subject mter experts in the requirements, design, development, and implemention of UAS reled software.

Primary Responsibilities

• Software Development & Optimizion: Support the design and implemention of software solutions, ensuring high-quality, maintainable, and scalable code. Assist with efforts in debugging, and optimizion for large-scale systems.

• Documention & Communicion: Responsible for creion of detailed technical documention, including system designs, APIs, and architectural diagrams. Communice complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders and executives.

• Cross-Functional Collaborion: Collabore with managers, hardware engineers, network engineers, and other stakeholders to implement system requirements and ensure seamless integrion between software, hardware, and network components.

• Innovion & Technology Evaluion: Stay current on emerging technologies and industry trends, new tools, frameworks, and methodologies th improve the development process and system performance.

Basic Qualificions  

• BS degree in computer science or reled technical degree plus 2-4 years of prior relevant experience or MS degree in computer science or reled technical degree plus 1-2 years of prior relevant experience..

• Strong experience with object-oriented programming in multiple languages such as java, C++, and C#.

• Strong experience using Gitlab CI/CD.

• Strong experience with scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or PowerShell including the automion of system and applicion installions is required.

• Strong understanding of general computing system architectures and virtual machines/containers.

• Strong command line experience with UNIX based opering system or Windows command line configurion is required.

• Strong analytical and organizional skills to handle multiple tasks and projects and to work independently

• 1-year+ professional software development experience

• Excellent written and verbal communicion skills.

• Must be a US citizen, possess and able to maintain an active Secret clearance.

• Must be a resident of Huntsville, AL or willing to reloce to the Huntsville, AL area.

Preferred Qualificions

• Experience with Atlassian workflow management software.

• Experience with software development and testing

• Experience with Uncrewed Aircraft Systems.

• Experience using Gradle.

• Willingness to be hands-on with the hardware away from assigned desk.
