Leidos’ Defense Systems Uncrewed Systems Integrion and Test is seeking a motived and ambitious Mid-Level Software Engineer to join the Software, Simulion, Systems Engineering and Integrion Directore (S3I) Joint Technology Center – Systems Integrion Lab (JSIL) Technology and Certificion Center. This position Develops technical solutions th require collaborion with internal experts, deep analyses and understanding of impact on end-product/solution. You will also develop solutions to technical problems and issues th are unclear and require deep technical knowledge.

Primary Responsibilities  

• Performs hands-on software system development from lab to field applicion

• Determines computing system requirements

• Analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input da acquisition, programming techniques and controls

• Prepares opering instructions

• Designs and develops autonomous services, desktop applicions, scripts, and utility programs. End product is special use and customized software

• Participes in technical design sessions and collabores with stakeholders to establish the foundional architecture for new software applicions

• Develops rapid prototypes and proof-of-concept applicions to valide design decisions and mitige technical risks early in the development lifecycle

Basic Qualificions

• BS degree in computer science or reled technical degree plus 6-12 years+ professional software development experience or MS degree in computer science or reled technical degree plus 2-8 years+ professional software development experience 

• Proficiency in C# and the .NET ecosystem (equivalent Java experience may be substituted)

• Experience with software applicion architectural design pterns and decision-making for scalable, maintainable applicions

• Experience with system integrion, message handling, and da exchange protocols 

• Strong understanding of software development lifecycle, version control, and agile methodologies 

• Good understanding of markup languages (e.g., XML, YAML, HTML) 

• Good understanding of DevSecOps practices and CI/CD pipelines 

• Good understanding of API inputs and outputs 

• Familiarity with Windows and Linux OS 

• Understanding of cybersecurity principles and secure coding practices 

• Strong analytical and organizional skills to handle multiple tasks and projects and to work independently 

• Excellent written and verbal communicion skills. 

• Must be a U.S. citizen

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance. 

• Must be a resident of Huntsville, AL or willing to reloce to the Huntsville, AL area. 

Preferred Qualificions

• Proficiency in one or more of the following scripting languages: Bash, Python, or PowerShell

• Experience with containerizion (Docker, Kubernetes), microservices, or cloud-based architectures

• Effective written and oral communicion skills are also required to work with all levels of staff and managers 

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
